Welcome to the Hermitage Hurricanes Swim Team website.
The Hermitage Hurricanes Swim Team is a youth summer swim program at Hermitage Country Club. The Hurricanes Swim Team is a great way to improve fitness and compete in a fun and laid–back setting. We focus on unity, sportsmanship, self-esteem, self-improvement and social interaction among a variety of age groups.
The Hurricanes Swim Team is open to swimmers of all abilities, ages 4-18, who meet the basic eligibility requirements. Specifically, swimmers 8 years old and under need to be able to swim 25 meters (1 pool length) unassisted, with minimal stops. Swimmers 9 years old and older need to be able to swim 50 meters (2 pool lengths) unassisted without stopping.
The Hurricanes Swim Team competes in the James River Aquatics Club League (JRAC) along with 19 other teams. JRAC was formed to enable recreational pools in Richmond to participate in the team sport of competitive swimming. There are six regular season meets during June and July. Typically, three meets are held at home (Hermitage) and three are away at competitors’ pools. Hermitage’s pool is a 25 meter pool.
